Great finds this weekend.

I have to admit, I have been slacking. Slacking in the sense of not being able to get any garage sales over the past couple of weekends. This last weekend however, I made a point to get out and see what people were offering, and I am certainly glad I did.

Our first stop brought us to a small children's table that will work great for my son when he gets a bit older. It needs a bit of work and customization but for $3, it was a great find. My wife is going to add a bit of flair to it by removing the current table top and replacing it with a custom Disney printed top that will certainly make it more personal to my son and should go well with his Disney room.

Speaking of Disney, our other great finds consisted of many Disney books. The books were:

  • Show white sound board
  • Tigger's Family Tree
  • Eeyore Finds Friends
  • Oh, Brother! Somebody's Grumpy!
  • Pooh's Christmas in the Hundred-Acre Wood
  • The Christmas Carol
  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • Treasure Hunt Mazes (didn't realize was half completed)

To follow everything up, I came across some old green plastic army men. There are toys that every boy seems to have sometime throughout his life and green army men seem to be one of them. My son has quite a while before they would be safe for him, but I think they will work well at my office desk for now.

Garage sales and EBay are by far the best places to pickup baby items. Whether they be toys, clothing or furniture, you will most likely get a huge discount and have items that are still in pretty good condition. This past weekend while out hunting, my wife and I picked up this Fisher Price Sparkling Symphony Gym. This gym is a few years old seeing as it is no longer on the Fisher Price website but still in great condition. We purchased it knowing it was missing a few extra toys but the sounds and lighting still work as normal. Our newborn boy definitely seems to enjoy this as much as we enjoyed the price. I consider this a great buy for only $2.50, especially seeing as my son will be able to grow into this toy and use it for many months to come.

*notice* Always check your baby items for recalls.

I had very little time this weekend to go hunting and furthermore was only able to get out on Sunday. However while coming back from work I stopped at a small townhouse community that had a surprising 5 garage sales. Certainly an abnormally large amount of sales within a community such as this. None the less, after navigating the long passages and dead ends, I came to stop at a couple sales and picked up some decent quality Disney books. These are dated from 1974 through about 1980. A great find that I will get many uses out of with my newborn son as I enjoy reading to him. Not a bad steal for $1.25.
